Today our u12s were unlucky to go down 2 -1 at home to London Lions in a very well contested game.
On the back of a good cup performance last week , we were keen to try and carry that form forwards into the league and whilst the result did not go our way, it was a good performance that the boys can and should be proud of.
We started the game well and whilst there was not a whole lot in it, we probably shaded the possession in the first 5 or 10 minutes before we conceded a corner and did not react fast enough to a parried save from Keiran to allow Lions to score from the follow up.
The boys did not let their heads drop and we kept moving the ball around well and eventually got a well deserved equaliser when Ben curled a shot from the left over the keeper and into the far corner of the goal.
At half-time, with the scores at 1-1 it was anybody’s game.
The second half was a very even affair again with both sides having chances and thus it was somewhat cruel that the game should be decided five minutes from time from a deflected cross that left the keeper no chance of getting to.
Whilst the boys will clearly be down by another loss in the league, if you are going to lose football games, then this was the way to do it, with a great fighting spirit and a good performance throughout.
This week the man of the match went to Barsa for a really solid performance at the back and cool head when under pressure on several occasions.
