Today saw the u12s play at home to Whetstone to see who would grab the initiative in the race for 2nd spot in the table.
The first half was a tight affair with little to choose between the two teams but Whetstone shading it narrowly as we struggled to make use of the ball when we did gain possession in their half. That said the 0-0 scoreline was not out of line with the flow of the game.
We knew we were to play into the wind and up the slope in the second half so encouraged the boys to lift their game for the second half but it was whetstone who came out by far the stronger and 8 minutes in registered the first and only goal of the game.
As the game wore on, especially in the last 5 minutes, we really started to up the temp and push hard but an equaliser seemed to be too much of an ask.
Having only made their keeper make one real save in the game, it would be hard to argue that whetstone were not good for their win.
We now sit in 3rd place but do need to quickly get back to winning ways.
Man of the match was a tight call between Barsa, Ollie and Matt who all defended well throughout, with Matt wining through for a couple of really great saves to stop us going further behind when we did lapse in the 2nd half.
