The ETFC Red’s played a home fixture against London Lions Blue. Our pre-match warmup focused primarily on passing, passing, and more passing.
We started the game with real intent, with the boys playing the ball from the back with on-point accurate passing in and around the midfield.
The passing continued and a neat through ball from Dylan Berger (in defence) to George Wainright (in midfield) allowed George to cross the ball to a very alert Jack Skinner (1) who netted the first goal for the team.
Within minutes of the second half starting a poor clearance lead to us conceding a goal, however with the amount of chances in the first half, we knew that if we maintained focus more goals would come our way.
As the game played out, the boys found space and continued playing neat tight football. Elliot Scott and Josh Levenstein in midfield made some decent runs down the left wing, with George Wainright and Tom Haworth helping to solidify the defence when required.
Josh Levenstein on corner taking duties struck a high wide ball, to which Jack Skinner (2) belted into the back of the net to give us the lead once again.
In the dying minutes; Dylan Berger, Tom Haworth and Yash Patel took the belt and braces approach to defending, and made timely tackles to ensure we saw the game out with a much deserved win. Brayden Fifer had a good game today, with 2 descent saves.
The final score was 2-1 to the ETFC Red’s. Man of the match this week goes to Dylan Berger for his defensive duties and his accurate passing which lead to our first goal.
