Today saw the ETFC Red’s play at home against London Colney Colts. Playing the Colts a couple of weeks ago; previously beating them 4-2, we knew this was going to be a team seeking revenge.
Right from the off; our boys continued to demonstrate how our football is progressing week on week, and just as importantly how we are no longer a physical push over. Our passing from goal, through our defence, and into the midfield provided numerous chances for our talented strike partners Jack Skinner and Oli Bloom.
It wasn’t long before Jack Skinner (3) opened his scoring account with one well struck penalty given for a handball in the box, followed by a further two in quick succession. Oli Bloom blasted a belter hitting the cross bar, then over the line to give us a 4-0 lead into half time.
The second half started and we continued where we left off with Tom Haworth, George Wainwright, Louis Rosenberg, and Elliot Scott dominating the midfield. Brayden Fifer made a fantastic penalty save.
Our dependable defenders Dylan Berger and Yash Patel held the back line preventing the opposition from creating much in the way of chances.
George Wainright made some great runs, but this week failed to convert any into goals, certainly not for the lack of trying. London Colney clawed a goal back.
Within the dying minutes, an accurate through ball from Elliot to Jack, which was the crossed to Oli (2) allowed him to secure our last goal of the match. At the final whistle, we won 5-1!
Man of the match was difficult today, Brayden Fifer was superb in goal; Oli Bloom showed strength skill and determination, but Jack Skinner scored 3 for the team and continued to demonstrate what a team player he has become.
