Today the u10 Red’s played an away fixture against London Colney Colts Blues. With a full squad this week, we were excited to play our new attacking 2-3-1 formation.
This formation allowed fluidity and pace around the midfield giving George Wainright (1) an early opportunity to skill passed the defenders, around the goalkeeper to bury the first goal for the team.
Maintaining possession, and with some very neat passing Jack Skinner’s (1) tight angled shot from near the corner flag resulted in another goal. London Colney clawed a goal back from well taken cross.
The second half started and the tempo increased albeit in our favour allowing our boys to control the flow of the game. Oli Bloom dropped back to right midfield, the link up play between him and Jack Skinner up front posed a serious threat to the opposition.
Brayden Fifer and Dylan Berger held the back line; a well struck corner kick was punched away by Louis Rosenberg.
Oli Blooms’s (1) strength and pace lead to a counter attack, which resulted in the ball flying at an unstoppable speed smashing into the top right of the goal.
George, Elliot, Tom, and Yash continued to dominate the midfield, and an accurate pass to Oli Bloom out wide was then sent back into the box where his strike partner Jack Skinner (2) netted his second.
In the dying minutes London Colney scored a second, but credit to Louis Rosenberg who made a double save but couldn’t quite keep out the third on target attempt.
The final score was a 4-2 WIN to the Edgware Town Reds!
Man of the match this week goes to Dylan Berger who made two vital clearances off the line, and whose passing gets better and better each week.
