Today saw the Edgware Town u10 Red’s play a home fixture against the Borehamwood Youth Crusaders. We started the match with an attacking 2-2-2 formation, with our rock solid back line Dylan and Yash protecting today’s stand-in goalkeeper Louis Rosenberg.
We started strong, although a little bunched up at times in the midfield. We responded well to the ever increasing tempo of the game and passing started to flow after a few minutes. George Wainright (1) came on from the sub bench and instantly thrusting his way through midfield, through the defence to net the first goal for the team. Josh Levenstein’s (1) fancy footwork added to the score line with a sensational bottom left belter. Moments later and just behalf the half time whistle, Oli Bloom’s cross met Jack Skinners (1) boot to earn us a third. The Crusaders clawed a goal back from a corner.
The second half started and the Crusaders were awarded a penalty for a handball inside the area, which they scored from.We responded well to that incident, with Elliot Scott (1) making a run down the left and belting the ball through the entire defence and midfield from just outside the area. In the dying minutes Tom Howarth (1) secured our 5th with a neat little rebound. The team played very well at times, and thoroughly deserved the 5-2 win.
As the season progresses we’ll continue to work on our passing and creativity. Man of the match this week goes to Louis Rosenberg for stepping in as goalkeeper and who made some very good saves which kept our oppositions score line to a minimum.
