Today’s fixture was played away to the newly promoted Croxley Youth. The pitch seemed somewhat smaller than what we are used to, and combined with the frosty hard surface we had to mentally adapt very quickly.
We started with tight neat passing from the back, and made some vitals tackles to retain possession for the majority of the first half.
Yash Patel (on the left), partnered with Dylan Berger (on the right), linked with Tom Haworth commanding defensive midfield duties made light work goalkeeper Bryaden Fifer. We continued to test their keeper, with shots on target by Oli Bloom, George Wainright and Jack Skinner.
After winning a corner, which was well struck by Elliot Scott, the ball bounced around the box where Elliot Scott (1) cleverly narrowed the angle and blasted it into the back of the net to secure the lead.
As the second half started, we continued to play and pass the ball well. As we attempted to slow the game down, Croxley played with more intent which unfortunately lead to a well-timed header that beat Brayden. All in all, a good display of football was played by both teams; the final score was 1-1.
Man of the match this week goes to Yash Patel who made a couple of sensational tackles in the first half; continually named his passes throughout the match, and demonstrated some real technical skill.
