Match Reports 09/10/16

Under 9s: 3-1 win

The under 9s played an inter-division friendly against Brady Maccabi Reds. Brady were well organised and solid defensively, presenting a far stiffer challenge than expected. Edgware dominated the first half but attack after attack came to nothing and the match was scoreless after half time. Brady scored on the counter attack early in the second half, horribly against the run of play, but the goal served as a wake up call to the boys in green. Their heads didn’t drop for a second and a 20 yard Payet-style free kick from Zach Bayfield brought the ‘Wares level with 15 minutes to play. A beautifully taken penalty from Filip Moczarny put Edgware in the lead for the first time after a defender was penalised having blocked a shot on target with his arm. A low range drive from Nathan Segal, leading under 9s scorer, completed the scoring with the final minutes approaching.

Under 10s: 6-0 win

An Excellent performance from the Under 10s which resulted in a convincing 6-0 win over London Colney Colts. We maintained excellent shape throughout the match and created several chances through quick passing and making good use of space. Goals from Matthew Justin, Benji Lurie, James Keegan and Alfie Mattiucci. MOTM performance from Kyle Larkin who was commanding in defence and distributed fantastically when moved into midfield.

Under 11s: 1-1

Under 11 Edgware Town Reds drew 1-1 against a very good London Colney Colts Red team who had won all their games so far by big margins. We played a very compact game and didn’t allow them to play at all. When we were in possession we moved the ball well and scored a good goal to equalise through our new player Ori. Very encouraging after losing to London Lions last week.

Under 12s: 5-0 loss

Edgware Town lost a league game to London Lions. This is the first game we have suffered this season, complacency took toll after beating teams in the lower divisions in the cup games.

Under 14s: 5-2 win

Fantastic turnaround for Aldenham u14’s who played St Albans in the county cup and won 5-2. Great team spirit and attitude concluded after a stern team talk at half time.

Under 16s Tigers: 4-2 win

Under 16’s Aldenham Tigers came back from 2-0 down to win 4-2 away at Olympiacos in their first league game of the season. All the sweeter having suffering a 11-0 defeat to them in the cup.

Under 16s Panthers: 3-3 AET (4-2 win on penalties)

AFC Panthers U16’s wom their first game of the season in the Herts cup. Great brace from Jack Crocker including a superb 25 yard strike that flew into the top left hand corner. Great skill by Alex Gates our goalkeeper/Striker scoring the third goal on the half volley. Baba Potts-Johnson was forced into action in the first half with a acrobatic serve which looked certain to go in. Abdul Hamid moved into CDM and Jimi Fafowara into CB and both had great games in their retrospective newly found positions. Great team effort to progress to the next round in the cup. Hopefully we can take this into a next league game.

Under 18’s: 5-2 win

Under 18 reds won against Belstone 5-2 with a hattrick from Elliot and a brace from Connall. A all round team performance after 2 silly goals were given away however still 4 wins from 4 is only encouraging for the boys.
