U11

U11 Blue played Whetstone Wdrs Tigers. We won 1-0 but could/should have had 4. Strong performance all round with only 9 available. Real trouble choosing MOM. Some delightful passages of play with the boys really starting to get to grips with movement off the ball and balanced shape. Our goal came from some lovely interplay down the right between Jack Wingate and Sam Piler with Sam finally taking on the full back and cutting the ball back to Jack who finished superbly. Hit the post and bar in the 2nd half but always looked in control. Great performance from new signing Sard Kahn who slotted in seamlessly at centre back and constantly snubbed out their centre fwd.

13/14’s

2 wins today. Aldenham beat Belstone 5-4 in a cup game. Edgware beat Colney Heat 4-3. Both teams played solid passing football against physical teams.

under 16’s tigers

Tigers U16’s lost in the cup 1-4, but played a team in a division higher. The score does not reflect the overall team performance and effort. With better finishing and defending at corners we would have been much closer. Our goal keeper Alex Itamar made a “Gordon Banks” world class save tipping one over the bar in the very top corner. MOM Alex Daly, never stopped running and took one in the face and groin for the team. The whole squad put a good shift in.

Under 16’s panthers

AFC Panthers 1-4 Olympiacos

I know we lost but we really didn’t deserve to. We played by far the better football and passed the ball really well.

We gave away 2 silly silly goals; the other two goals they scored were good goals but what really did for us was not putting away our own chances.

I have never seen us create so many chances and not convert them. Ben Barres hit the post, Oli Starr scored a great goal but could have easily scored three or four more. I saw some lovely passing today from Oli but in truth all of the team passed the ball better than any match this season.

Alex Ani, man of the match today, played out of his skin up front as an emergency striker and ran himself into the ground and could have himself have scored a few goals. AndrĂ© Teixeira was all over the pitch and Juan Franco – Rios (who in truth was not at his most positive today) when he got the ball managed to play lots of nice intricate passing football with Ben.

Abdul Hamid and Sam Lakeland both had great game in defence, came out of defence with great purpose and determination and could themselves have scored a few goals.

Eytan Kerbel had a good game playing well as a left wing back. Brandon Starr made some good interceptions and some telling passes and Baba Potts-Johnson made some fine saves one in particular where he tilted the ball over the bar, was truly spectacular.

If you had seen the match and didn’t know the scoreline you would have never guessed that we were playing with only 10 men and losing.

I have to say I’m beginning to hate the words ‘mocks’, ‘tests’ and ‘exams’.

The 10 who played today’s match can be proud of themselves because they really got stuck in, never gave up and played some really lovely passing football.

But never mind how many chances you create you have to take your chances !

Had we taken a few more of the 15 or so chances we made today the scoreline would have properly reflected the game.
