Round up of the youth teams matches
Under 9’s were involved in a entertaining match against London Colney Colts. On a poor pitch, the youngsters struggled against a strong physical side. When they did pass the ball, they looked good. Goals form Alfie, and a fine performance from Aaron who made numerous attacking runs down the right side.
Under 10’s Blue produced an excellent performance away at Bushey and Oxhey Sharks. The passing was slick, Jack linked up well with Freddie and and Sam. Rubens and Eshan also got the ball down and played some nice 1 2’s. Kameron produced another solid game at the back with Harry, with Oliver growing in confidence in goal.
Under 11’s Blues struggled to apadpt to the conditions and a strong team. Training is going well, just need to take it into games.
Under 18’s Whites beat Borehamwood Knights 3-1. A hard fought match, Borehamwood had been top of the league, until today’s game, which saw Edgware go top with 4 games to go. The wares were hampered by a growing injury list, which meant they started the game with 10 men, until Tyrese joined up after 10 minutes. The lack of subs caused concern, with a couple of knocks to Eliiot and Matty. Elliot put Edgware in front, and that was the score at HT. The back four were solid, and Constantin acquitted himself well in goal. Borehamwood equalised, before Ronny scored a brace to put the green in control. Good performances from both Ethans. A really good team performance. We play each other next week in the cup.
Under 18’s Red beat London Lions in the spring cup 3-1. Playing in terrible conditions, goals from Karim, Reekye and Simon, and a Man of the Match performance from Chris, good performance seeing as they had no subs.
Under 18’s Black produced a great fight back in a game of 2 halves. Injuries and up against a strong Alexandra side, they quickly went 2 nil down. That was the score at HT. The 2nd half started with the bare 11 as a player was taken to A & E. Centre back Mat Silver stepped up, and produced a inspired 2nd half performance. Some good passing moves, goals from Mikkel James and Habib Jalo got the score back to 2-2. Still pushing for the win, they were caught on the counter attack, and went 3-2 down with 3 minutes to go. The wares didn’t give up though, and a Jck Winton free kick in the last minute was misjudged by the keeper and the ball sailed in. 3-3 just as the final whistle went. Jordan Alfred was MOM, driving the team forward at every opputunity.
The rest of the Edgware Teams did not play.
